Spanish Language AP IV Summer Homework


Spanish Language AP IV Summer Work 2012-2013:

All summer work must be turned in to Mrs. Kodesh’s mail box located in the teacher’s lounge by Monday August 20h.

I. Work from “Una Vez Más” (You must check out the book from the library) Do not write on the book. You must write your answer in the grammar review section of a 100-page notebook.
A. Complete “Lessons” 1,2,3, and 5.
B. Please write down questions you may have on each lesson and study the grammar from each of the above lessons. Be prepared to take practice quizzes on them and then real quizzes shortly thereafter! These lessons are review and will be covered within the first month of school.

II. Work from the Media
A. Read and do the following activities for 3 newspapers or magazine articles.
1. Print and Paste 3 articles from a real newspaper or magazine in Spanish into a spiral bound notebook. Read article.
2. Write a list of 10 new vocabulary terms found in the article and define them in English.
3. Write a summary of the article in your own words in Spanish in a well-developed paragraph. (50 words or more)
4. Write a reaction or opinion on the topic in Spanish in a well-developed paragraph.
5. Highlight all the verbs in the article using a different color for each tense/mood found in the article and make a key for what each color represents. (Key must include: present, imperfect, preterit, present perfect, commands, subjunctive, future, conditional and imperfect subjunctive.

You may choose to use the following websites or find some of your own. You may also use magazines in Spanish, but do not limit yourself to fashion/sports/gossip magazines. You can only use one these sources for one of your current events. YOU NEED TO LEARN CURRENT EVENT VOCABULARY FOR THE AP TEST!!!

III. Watch 3 HOURS OF NEWS FROM Spanish Language television ( See Univisión and Telemundo) and for each 30 minutes write 5 bullet points in Spanish. (Total 30 bullets). Write the date, time and name of TV channel and newscast for each viewing. Put in the second ½ of the spiral bound notebook.
